She has more scars from similar incidents, though they're hidden by her clothing.

Health Issues: Melanie was born without a left leg. Her parents formatted a prosthetic leg for her so that she may learn to walk normally. Because of this Mel is often subjected to the teasings and abuse of fellow Vault mates, particularly those in her age group.
Weapons: Mel uses no weapons, being a part of the maintenance department, and instead has honed her hand-to-hand combat skills.

Job: Maintenance department. It is one of Mel's main duties to ensure the water fountains are working properly. She hates the G.O.A.T. for fairly obvious reasons.
Description: Mel was born in the vault, she didn't want to die in the vault, no matter what the Overseer had to say. She didn't care how radiated the world was outside, surely there was another settlement outside that she would fit better into.
Due to her condition, Mel is highly resourceful. If there is a wrench left out somewhere and nobody has claimed it, she puts it to use. Mel has been known to forge weapons out of seemingly useless items, though she prefers simple hand-to-hand combat above all else, mostly because her metal leg provides an upper-hand in knocking a punk vault dweller on his ass.
Mel's personality appears to be that of a quiet, apathetic girl. She tends to keep out of other people's business though they don't tend to stay out of her own. In reality she's more outgoing, and dislikes being so isolated from the other vault dwellers, though she'd never show it. She carefully plans for the day she leaves the vault and it's nonsense behind, though she has no idea as to where she would go if she left. In Mel's mind, anywhere is better than where she is now, even if it were in radiated wastes.
Because of her lack of social skills, her charisma is somewhat below average. However, what she lacks in charisma she makes up for in her intelligence and perspective. Mel has a natural talent in the art of using bobby-pins to their fullest potential, though is not very fast thanks to her heavier leg. If she's attempting to unlock a resident's door and swipe a few items they surely wouldn't miss, she has to be extremely aware of her surroundings and whether or not said resident is coming around the corner, for she won't be given the luxury to flee quickly if she is caught.
